Recently started watching these 3. The first, Accel World, started out really stupid for me but has gotten better. Its set some years in the future. Everyone has this nifty little device implanted in them at birth, and with that their minds act like computers. There’s this online world that people can log onto and play games and stuff. Its kinda like a MMORPG, but that’s not what the story is about. Seems like there’s a program that allows people to fight each other. This program is at the center of the show, and the reason the show is actually watchable. The main character is a chubby nerd which is sorta original, but hard to swallow. Still, its been surprisingly entertaining, so I’ll keep watching. The second, Nazo no Kanojo X, is really weird. When I say weird, I mean weird. New girl shows up at school, and naturally everyone wants to befriend her. Cause you know, Japs are all nice to strangers… I’m serious.
She is kind of an oddball, and so people just tend to avoid her at first. After forgetting something at school, the male lead encounters female lead and the story begins \o/
FYI: Story revolves around saliva….. yeah, I know.
The last one, Sankarea, involves zombies. Male lead loves them, and dreams of falling in love with a zombie girl. After his cat dies, he discovers a book that contains a recipe for resurrection. During his experiment, he meets the female lead, and the real story begins. So, I have to admit this is another sorta weird series I didn’t think id like, but so far its been pretty entertaining. Sankarea, the female lead, is actually pretty humane, and easy to understand. Because I like it so far, Ill keep watching.

You know, there comes a time when you just have to sit down and realize what’s really going on in the world around. Poverty, corruption, high crime rates, rising cost of living, a shrinking middle class. Its all enough to make you depressed. In the world of Akumetsu, Japan is pretty much where the rest of the world is now. An enormous economic deficit, corruption left and right, a shrinking middle class, and a stagnant number of unemployed. Funny thing about Akumetsu is that it was released in the year 2003, many years prior to out current global economic s***hole. Akumetsudramus?
If you have seen/read Death Note, the premise is actually quite similar. Our main character, Shou, is bent on destroying the evil that plagues Japan. Get rid of the corrupt politicians = progress. What sets apart Akumetsu from Death Note is that our main character, Shou A.K.A. Akumetsu, gets away with everything he does. When I say everything, I mean everything. In Death Note, Light got away with things at first, but when his actions started to become suspicious, he wasn’t able to get away with everything like he wanted anymore. Now, many have claimed Akumetsu is a direct rip-off of Death Note. These people are imbeciles. Akumetsu came out before Death Note. If anything, Death Note copied Akumetsu. I mean for god’s sake, Shou’s best friend looks eerily similar to Light Yagami. They have the same facial expressions and everything. Imitation is the highest form of flattery as they say. In any case, this manga was one helluva ride. Its addicting, and everything about it screams awesomeness. I can safely say this is one of the best manga I have read ever.
